A Card to Share and Why I Scrapbook

I have a photo and paper sitting on my desk waiting to scrapbook.  I've been looking at it for 3 days, and I just can't get started on it.  I will tell you about that after I share my card.  I saw a lovely sketch at Stuck On U Sketches, and I knew just what I wanted to do.

I haven't rolled flowers for awhile, and I knew I wanted to add them to the stamp and gem cluster on this card.  The paper is For Always, and I have really started to see the beauty of this paper.  It's not just fabulous in design, but it's also one of the few paper packets where you could add absolutely any color, and it would still be gorgeous.  I love that versatility!  The flourish stamp is from a very old set - Key to My Heart.  I've used ruby for stamping, and I used ruby for the flowers, too.  There are three ribbons - black grosgrain, tulle, and black shimmer trim.  Don't you love that glittered button?  Those are in the new black button collection.  Because I've used ribbon and a button, this also works for the Black Tie Challenge.

Now about that scrapbook page.  Maybe I should back up a bit and tell you why I scrapbook.  Yes, my books are for future generations.  I want my story told in my eye view to be passed along.  But my books are also for me.  When I am old, I want to look back and remember.  Perhaps my memory won't be so clear, and I want to be able to recall the days of my life.  Scrapbooking is also therapy for me.  When something difficult has happened, I yearn to scrapbook it because I think that is the way that I work things out.  Can you identify?  There is a wonderful book called "Imperfect Lives," and it has done a wonderful job of teaching me that scrapbooking is necessary for the good and the bad.

Those layouts go into a personal book, and more often than not, the journaling is hidden.  I will be the first to admit that it is not a book that I look back on very often.  But when I do, I can see the way God has used the circumstance to make me a stronger and better person.  And for that, in the end, I rejoice.

So that is what I am working on - one of those tougher layouts.  Maybe it will be done tomorrow, and maybe it won't be done for months.  I am not a power scrapbooker, so it's okay with me if it sits.  When the words finally come, it will be real and it will be perfect.

Thanks for stopping in today and reading my ramblings!  I hope that you are having a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Love this! I too have photos that I want to scrap that are of a very sad time in our family. I think it's important to share the good and sometimes very sad. Life has it's ups and downs and scrapbooks should reflect both.

I have goose bumps!
I'm in the middle of...oh gosh, how do I even say this quickly, LOL. I don't know, in a whirl wind of learning, understanding and growing in my understanding for what God wants from my life. What you said about the circumstances and rejoicing...well I really feel like I got that!
Gosh, what a treat to come by. I hear others speak and it makes me want to continue my journey with my Lord, our Lord.
Wow...ok, shall I even get to the card? LOL!
I will though cause the card is super gorgeous! =) Haven't done much with rolled flowers but they certainly are lovely creations!
I'm so glad that you shared this card w/ us gals at SOUS...hope to chat with you sometime!
