I had a few more scraps of Mistletoe sitting out, so I thought I 'd keep making Christmas cards today.

I love this paper, and I think I only have enough for one more Mistletoe card.  Guess I'll have to play with it in Studio J!  I used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday, and I kept pretty true to the design:

It is Christmas in the Heart

I am still working on my Christmas cards.  I keep telling my husband that I may have to send some New Year's card this year!  I don't know about you, but this year Christmas came really, really fast for me!  So I sought out some fun challenges and went about making another Christmas card.

What could be better than red and green for me to work with for a Christmas card?  And that exactly what Dynamic Duos, Pause Dream Enjoy, and CWC Cricut challenges wanted.

And then I found this GREAT sketch at Heart 2 Heart that is wide open for possibility!  

So here is what I came up with:

I decided to use some long retired Mistletoe scraps to make this card.  I love the look of vintage snowflakes in the red paper.  This is one of our diecut cards, and I love them because that flap is fun to work with!  I cut the snowflakes with the Art Philosophy cartridge, and I popped the middle one up to add some good dimension.  If you look closely, I put some bitty green sparkles around the snowflakes.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Card Chatter stamp set, and it's my favorite sentiment from that set.  But my favorite part of this card is the layered ribbon.  It is colonial white organdy and crocheted ribbon, and I will admit that I have been hoarding both of these for almost 3 years.  I've used them sparingly here and there because they are my favorite ribbons of all time - especially when they are layered.  The ribbon slide works well with the crocheted ribbon.

With all the snowflakes, this will also go into the snowflake challenge at Eclectic Ellapu.  

How is your holiday season going?  I'd love to hear about it!  I've already told you that I think time is going way too quickly.  I have so many ideas for classes and personal artwork, and I really need 36 hours in a day to implement all of them!  Thanks for stopping to visit today!

Studio J Meets the Stamp of the Month

I sat down today to try something that I have been wanting to do for a long time.  I have wanted to combine traditional scrapbooking with our online software, Studio J, to create what is known as a hybrid layout.  Let me show you what I did!

This is such pretty paper, and I am so glad that I can still use it in Studio J!   Here is what it became after adding some traditional supplies:

Can you see where I've used the stamp of the month, Very Merry Christmas?  I stamped the ornaments, circle element on the bottom left page, and the the tag sentiment on the right page.  If you are wondering how I made the ornaments, I stamped the image first with Bamboo and then in New England Ivy. I paper pieced the center and added some gems.  My friend Lynn had created some ornaments last week with glitz gel and they were beautiful.  So I took her lead and thought that the stardust gel would these ornaments the finishing touch they needed.  Truly, they are so much prettier in person!  I've also added some stacked flowers from the Just Blooms Floret collection,  cranberry buttons, and plenty of sparkles.  Those pretty, pretty brads are from the long since retired Mistletoe collection.

So you see, Studio J is marvelous in itself, but it can be even more amazing when you add a few traditional touches.  What I love is that I was able to create an affordable base layout and have all those unique picture sizes.  Then I was able to take it a little further with all the sparkle that I love for Christmas layouts!  Why not give Studio J a try this month - I think you will be pleasantly surprised!  It's a good month to try it because when you buy 9 Studio J layouts, you will get your 10th layout free.  How awesome is that?!!
