Bonjour

Happy Weekend!  I hope that you are having a great weekend so far.  I found this sketch at Deconstructed Sketches and thought it was a great challenge!  It has a lot of layers and that is always fun.

I decided on using a clear card so that some of the layers are on the inside and some on the outside.

I should have taken a picture from the side so that you could see more easily that the only things on the outside of the card are the tag and tulle.  Otherwise everything is on the inside.  I love the look of clear cards, and if you do, watch for my January card kit at the end of December.  I'll teach you all about how to create them quickly and easily in that kit!

I used Avonlea and the Bonjour stamp set on this card.  I've shown in this card why you save your scraps of tulle and rosette ribbon.  I throw away a lot of scraps of paper, but I always save bits of ribbon!

I have been so happy to be in my craft room today.  I had surgery on Thursday afternoon, and one day of sitting around doing nothing was plenty for me!  My husband would tell you that I am not a very good patient, and he would be right.  I had my gall bladder taken out - thank goodness! If you have ever had gall bladder problems, you know just what I am talking about.  I am so blessed to have the type of job that allows me to work but still heal at the same time.  Truth be told, there is great healing power in paper, stamps, and ink!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great weekend!

Families

I taught a class this afternoon (it was so much fun!), and I had some time this evening after I prepped for tomorrow evening's class.  I was actually yearning to create something pretty for no good reason.  Sassy was meowing like crazy because she thinks when it's dark I need to go down to the family room.  But I powered through all that noise and distraction simply because I had to feed that yearning within my soul.  Those of you that know me well must know that I pulled out some Florentine paper.  Along with that I used Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #83.

There is something so soothing to me about the patterns and colors in this paper.  It's hard to photograph, but I used a clear card for this.  The print and sentiment (Family Love stamp set) are on the inside, and the ribbon and embellishments are on the outside.

It brings me great joy to cluster and embellish.  There is nothing better than taking a bunch of matching supplies and putting them all together in a wonderful way.  What a blessing it is to be a paper crafter!

I am also going to enter this into the flourish challenge at Come and Get It.

Avonlea Clear Cards

If you scroll down to my previous post, you'll see the box that I created for the cards I am showing you today.  Because the box is on the elegant side, I wanted very special cards for the inside so I chose to use clear cards.  I love clear cards, and they are on the "While Supplies Last" list right now.  They come in a set of 8 cards for $3.00.  Yes, I said $3.00!  WOW - that's just 38 cents per card & envelope for a really unique card.  There will be two of each of these cards inside the card box.

If you look closely at this card, you will see that the rounded piece and "thinking of you" layers are on the inside.  The ribbon wrap, circle element, and gems are on the outside.  I've placed the band strategically so that you can write on the mat on the inside.  This is one of the rounded corner cards and there are four of these in the package.  The other four cards have a bracket edge, and that is what I used for the next card.  Again, the ribbon band, square elements and buttons are on the outside of the card.

These are an extremely durable card, and I love them!  They come with a protective coating over them so that they remain free of scratches.  You may wonder about the adhesives I use for this.  Liquid Glass is perfect!  It dries clear and has a strong hold.

Watch my class calendar.  I will be having a special winter clear card kit available for purchase in November!

One of a Kind

I saw a sketch at Cards & Things challenges, and I fell in love with the simplicity of the sketch.  I love making round cards, so I set to work right away on this one.

I used a clear card, so there is a lot of dimension to this card.  That beautiful blue mat (from the Believe paper packet), bottom snowflake and sentiment are on the inside of the card.  The silver ribbon, sparkles, and large snowflake are on the outside.

Have you ever wondered how to attach paper to a clear card?  I use Liquid Glass - a wonderful product that not only holds really well, but is clear (thus the name!).  It works beautifully on clear cards or albums.

Those glittery snowflakes are easy to create!  I took a couple Flurry dimensional elements and painted them with Create-a-Shade pearl paint.  While they were wet, I sprinkled prisma glitter on them.  It's a pretty look!

Have you been working on Christmas gifts?  I have, but I've not been able to show you.  In case people are reading, I have to wait so as not to spoil the surprise!  It's COLD here!  Today will be in the low 20s, and tomorrow night there are predicting 0 degrees.  Brrrr!!  I think I'd rather have snow!

Thank for stopping by!  I hope you are having a blessed week!

Wonderful Season

I am leaping forward and showing you a Christmas card today.  This was an entry for the Make It From Your Contest for Close To My Heart that did not get selected.  I do have one card that was chosen, though (yippee!!), so I will show you that some time next week.  I am so loving the Art Philosophy cartridge, and I have already determined which flower I like the best.  That is the one I am showing you on this Christmas card:

Can you see that this is a clear card?  It's hard to tell that in the picture.  At first glance in the book, this paper looks all red and green.  But it's got a beautiful soft sky blue side, and that is what I chose to combine with the sweet leaf green.

Items used:
X7145B Believe Level 2
Z1686 Cricut Art Philosophy Collection
Z1616 Designer Ribbon Green Collection
Z1466 Bling Assortment
Z1309 Clear Cards

All of these items can be found on my website.  While you are there, stop in and look at the While Supplies Last tab.  There are items for as low as 25 cents!

Mojo Monday on Thursday

I am wondering if you think I haven't been creating much lately.  The truth is I have been creating at an overtime pace!  However, I have not been able to show you everything quite yet.  As the month progresses, you will see all of it, I promise!  Tonight I sat down to create with the Mojo Monday sketch.  It is either a round or square sketch:

I pulled out one of CTMH's clear cards.  I love these!  One package is round or square, and another package is standard cards  If you've ever wondered what the best adhesive is for clear cards, try Liquid Glass.  It has a very fine tip on the bottle, so you can put a tiny little bit on your paper, and it is hardly noticeable on the other side.  Other items used on this card are Dreamin; Level 2, Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain, Harvest Charms, Mocha Opaque Gems, and Treasure Life stamp set.

I hope you've been having a good week!

New Book, New Look!

Sometimes it just that time to make a change.  I've had this blog you are visiting for 12 years!  Wow, that's a lot of post and a lo...
