Mom, You are Special

I happened to see a sketch this morning by the lovely Michelle over Atlantic Hearts.  It inspired me to pull out  my Flowers for Mom stamp set.

I cut the card base and sentiment tag from Artfully Sent.  The tag is meant to be an insert to a card, but what a delicate base!  I've used a piece of Glacier Paper Fundamentals for matting.  The sentiment on the tag is all one stamp, so I simply used clear tape to mask off the separate parts to achieve two colors.  I stamped the flowers with black archival ink and colored them with pastel green and tender pink alcohol markers.  I colored the inside of the petals with the alcohol blending pen to give them a shadow.  Finally I finished it off with some glacier twine (you'll see that on April 1st!).

(All of these products can be found on my website.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Life is Beautiful

I am spending some time in my craft room playing today, and I felt like working with some really peaceful colors.  The patterns, texture, and depth to Seaside paper always bring me that feeling.

I cut the butterflies using the Artfully Sent cartridge.  The stamp is called Your Own Kind of Wonderful - one of my favorites.  I had some mocha gems in my stash that I used on and around the butterflies.

I hope that you are enjoying your weekend!

So Wonderful

And that's exactly what this paper and stamp set is...wonderful!!

Have you taken a look at the Operation Smile stamp set You're the Bomb?  Do you have your packet of Hopscotch paper?  I love it both of them!  But they are retiring on March 31st, so you have to hurry and order them!  Let me show you some artwork.  I used this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches as a jumping point for my card.

I've used banner and circle dimensional elements for some added interest to this card. The flower and hexagon border are a part of the Hopscotch stickers.  As embellishment, I've use gold shimmer trim, flaxen twine, and gold sequins.  So fun to mix all these matching products!!

Did you know that when you purchase this stamp set Close To My Heart will donate $3 to Operation Smile?  You have the ability to change the life and smile of a child with this one stamp set!

Thanks for stopping in today!  I hope you are looking forward to a fun and blessed weekend!

His Love

I've started working on my Easter cards, and I so love creating for this day.  I've used the stamp set His Love.

Lilies are my favorite flower of the spring, and I think the art department at Close To My Heart did an excellent job with this stamp.  It looks like a true lily and still captures the simplicity.  I stamped the flower using olive pigment ink.  I heat set image, and then I lightly colored the stem with an olive watercolor pencil.  The olive, honey, and gypsy paper is all from the Paper Fundamentals collection.  If you haven't been introduced to Paper Fundamentals, they are print on one side and clear embossed print on the other.  Look closely at the olive banner above the sentiment.  That is the back side of the olive fundamentals.

The His Love stamp set is just $9.95, and the lily measures almost 3" in height.  This is a great stamp to have in your collection!

Easter is my favorite time of the year.  Eighteen years ago, I went to a Christian retreat called Cursillo, and it changed my life.  And it changed the way I look at Easter.  Easter isn't one day of the year, but every single day we live in the assurance of the Risen Christ.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope that your day is most richly blessed!

Rose Blossom Blog Hop - Why I Love Being a Consultant

Welcome to the Rose Blossom Blog Hop!  Now this hop is a big circle, so you can just follow the short hop from blog to blog.  If you should get lost, there is a list of blogs at the bottom of this post.  Today we want to tell you all the reasons we love being a Close To My Heart consultant.  I can't wait to go through this hop!

I had so many pictures and thoughts to share that I decided to use Studio J.

Those of you that have been reading my blog since the beginning know that I first became a Close To My Heart consultant in June 2005.  I grew a wonderful team and loved my custtomers, but I had to leave at the end of December 2009 to settle some health issues. I re-joined Close To My Heart in May 2011.  I was healthier and stronger than ever at this point and ready to teach and work my business again!  I tell you this because had I not loved being a consultant as much as I do, I would never have come back.  But there are so many things that draw me to Close To My Heart and make me really love my job!  The journaling reads:

My job is...Picture Perfect
  • I get to teach papercrafting!
  • Blessed with world-wide friendships!
  • I love working with my customers!
  • Leading my Rose Blossom team is amazing!
  • Fabulous discount on product!
  • I earn an income doing what I love!
  • I have a wonderfully supportive upline!
  • Close To My Heart is a debt-free company!
  • The Corporate staff is supportive - and fun!
  • Recognition for hard work!
  • I love the places I have traveled!
Now it's time for you to head to Marg's blog.  You are in for a treat, I am sure!!  Should you get lost, here is the list for the hop!

By the Seaside

I wanted to create a new layout for my shadow bow frame, and I have wanted to scrap this photo.  So I set my work aside for a bit, stopped everything, and created!
(P.S. This is one of the many reasons I love being a full-time Close To My Heart consultant!)

I love Seaside paper, the complements, and the assortment.  It's all very subtle and makes me feel the calm of the sea.  This day in Hawaii was such a beautiful day.  We started the day in the ocean, and we ended the day sitting by the ocean watching the moonlight and waves.  It was the perfect day!

I used two stamp sets for this page.  One is the retired Trinity alphabet, and that is how I stamped the date.  The other stamp is an exclusive that CTMH sent as a gift for earning this marvelous trip!  I created a cluster of sea creatures that follows the tone of the paper.

Thanks for stopping in today!  I so appreciate your visits!!

Spring Getaway

Last year Jerry surprised me with a weekend away in Lanesboro.  I loved every little thing about the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed that he planned the trip.

I used the February and March sketches from the 2015 Scrapbooking Planner & Sketch Calendar from PageMaps and Scrapbook & cards Today.  My friend Marg gave me this wonderful book for Christmas, and it was such a treat to receive!  It's got places for journaling, notes on layouts, and incredible inspiration.

The Wanderful Workshop was perfect for this early spring trip.  I used the Artbooking cartridge to make the notebook edge on the left page and "explore" on the right page.  I also did some stamping using World Traveler and the Hostess Rewards set Love This Story.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I appreciate your visits and hope that you have a blessed day!

Why I Scrapbook

I was extremely honored to be asked to write a blog post for the Close To My Heart blog Make it From Your Heart.  I was able to share why I scrapbook and how this wonderful hobby enhances our relationships.  I wanted to share that post here with you.  Thank you for visiting today1

It was several years ago that I realized this whole paper and ink thing I love so much was more than just a hobby. It truly is my passion, and I’m so excited to share it with you today! I want to share some examples of pages I’ve made celebrating people that are important in my life.
When you see this photo, you’ll understand why I immediately wanted to run to my craft room to create this page for my great niece’s memory book. This little girl’s face fills my heart with so much joy! I gave this page to her mommy and daddy for Christmas.
The stamp set I used (B1470 Love Ya Silly) captures my feelings because I really COULD squish her with hugs! I love the mixture of monsters, colors, and all things girly. It was definitely fun to make this page!
My friends will tell you that I am never in a hurry while I’m creating. I invest this time because when someone sees the finished product, what I really want them to see is my heart.
I don’t scrapbook my photos chronologically, so it’s a real treat when I come across one of my son’s “little boy” photos to scrap. The journaling on this page reads, “Now that Shane is 23, it’s a great joy to pull out unscrapped little boy pictures. This was a pretend dinosaur so it was easy for Shane to laugh and be carefree. As he’s grown, he has learned that sometimes life BITES. My prayer is that he find joy among the dinosaurs of life.” I’m a big believer in scrapping the good and the bad, but I’m also a big believer that creating with paper brings love, laughter, and hope. That’s the kind of feeling I wanted to share in this fun—but still honest—page.
I think handwriting is so important for the feel of a scrapbook. I recently sent a card to my son and he said my handwriting has changed over the years. He didn’t say much else, but I was overjoyed knowing that how I put ink to paper does matter. Even though I don’t have the best handwriting, it’s my handwriting and that’s what matters.
This summer, my husband and I are celebrating our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. I so enjoy making pages about our life together. One of our favorite things to do is to be anywhere near water with our bare feet, and I wanted to document this. I know that in our golden years we will love looking back on this memory from a beach in Grenada. The title of the page says it all.
Scrapbooking with Close To My Heart is so much more than paper and ink. Friends all over the world are willing to share ideas and techniques. How grateful I am for this camaraderie! I know that if I’ve lost my creative mojo or can’t seem to get something right, I can count on one of my friends to inspire me. Papercrafters truly have a bond like no other!
What’s really fun is the way we celebrate each other. I’m blessed to lead a wonderful team of women in their Close To My Heart businesses and creative journey. We are recording our team experiences in a My Crush™ book this year, and I thought I’d share a couple of pages from our recent team meeting. The journaling reads, “I love everything about Rose Blossom team meetings. From recognition to business to special topics to creative time, it is all good. But what I love the very most is watching all of these wonderful women interact with each other. The laughter, the love, even more laughter, and lots of creative talent. Yep, these meetings are their time to shine!!”
I could show you loads more examples. What I really want you to see, though, is that scrapbooking is not about getting numerous pages done in one night, or even scrapping every photo. It’s about sharing you, your heart, and the love you have for the people in your photos. It’s an act of love.

Rose Blossom Blog Hop - March Stamp of the Month

Welcome to the Rose Blossom Blog Hop as we introduce the March Stamp of the Month - Choose Happy!  Now this hop is a big circle, so you can just follow the short hop from blog to blog.  If you should get lost, there is a list of blogs at the bottom of this post.

Choose Happy is a playful reminder that we do need to remember to make that choice to be happy every day.  It was that whimsical quality of the stamp that helped me create this card.

The frame and sentiments are from Choose Happy.  I combined this set with the butterflies from Your Own Kind of Wonderful.  To create the background of this card, I rubbed lagoon pigment ink on the inside of the Floral embossing folder and then embossed the paper.  Kind of a cool look, huh?  Here's a few close up views:

Now it's time to move on to Lynn's blog.  I am sure she has some kraft-y goodness ready for you, and I can't wait to see what it is!
