Sisterhood

This is a great sketch by Creative Scrappers. These are pictures from a sister's weekend in 2006. For five of us to re-arrange our schedules was quite a feat. But how wonderful for all of us to get together! That was the last year we were all able to have a "full" sister's weekend with all 5 of us. I am hoping someday that we will have this precious time again, How special to shop, laugh, eat M&M's, and just be friends and sisters for a weekend.

Yippee!! Lucky Me!!

I am so happy! I won the random drawing for participating in the Wacky Wednesday challenges on Creative Scrappers!! Yahoo!! If you've never checked out their challenges, you really should go there. All of the Wacky Wednesday challenges are great fun, but I was really intrigued one week when our layout came in the form of a puzzle. A little like a treasure hunt! So much fun to know I'll be getting goodies in the mail!!

Creative Scrappers Layouts

This is a layout of two of my grand-nephews. You will find the matching layout in my next post. Are they cute or what?!
The paper and journaling tags are Paper Loft. The rub-on is MME, and the brads, buttons, and hemp are CTMH. This was a challenging sketch because of the way the papers were laid out. However, the I do like the finished product and it shows off these cuties really well!










I love this picture and that face on my grand-nephew Aaron. The journaling blocks were perfect for his expression. They are from Cosmo Cricket. Paper is Basic Grey's Wassail (yep - a Christmas paper!) CTMH has new dimensional elements that are round, and how easy was it to cover it with the paper. (Hint** I used Bonding Memories glue when covering dimensional elements or chipboard. It is awesome!**) The buttons, felt, and hemp are also from CTMH. I am quite certain this layout and that precious face will make you smile!










This is the matching layout for the one above. Again I've used Wassail from Basic Grey. The tags are from Cosmo Cricket. Chipboard, hemp, felt, and buttons are from CTMH.
My nephew has a great-looking family!

More of the Beautiful La Sagrada Familia

This is my second post today using photos of Barcelona's La Sagrada Familia. I am using Sketch #62 from Creative Scrappers to complete my 2-page layout. I wanted it to match the layout you will see in the next post, so again I've used CTMH's Perfect Day paper. The other elements from CTMH are the Foundry Bookplate, and Perfect Day Stickease. The flowers are Prima Naturals. With a first page already completed and four pictures remaining to scrap of this unique and beautiful scrap, it was easy to complete the layout.

I can't say the photo album from my trip is quite done yet, but I can say that our days in Barcelona are scrapped. That's an accomplishment!

La Sagrada Familia

or "Temple of the Holy Family." These pictures are from our trip to Barcelona last October. This is one of the most incredible structures I have ever seen. First of all, it is massive - beyond description. One side tells the birth of Jesus, and around the block on the other side it tells the crucifixion and resurrection. This structure was started in 1882 and is still not completed today. If you ever go to Barcelona, make sure it is one of your highlights!

I completed this page for a Creative Scrappers challenge. There was no sketch, but rather ad that was to inspire us. At the bottom of my post, you'll find the picture of the ad.

I also wanted to do an up close picture of my journaling block with the hearts attached. You'll notice that I stamped and cut two colors to give them a layered look. Let's see what else I can tell you about this page. The vine border was stamped with an image from the
KTMH stamp set. The hearts, journaling block, and "tell the story" are also stamped from that set. The lines are stamped from Noteworthy and the scripture is from Come Unto Me. Colors used are Juniper, Sorbet, Colonial White, and Cocoa. Printed paper is from the Perfect Day packet. The Sorbet designer ribbon is also from CTMH. Oh - and the scallops are made from my EK Success corner rounder. Did you know that if you take the guard off and turn it upside down you can make scallops? Perfect. Then I just took my Crop-o-Dile and punched holes.

I have several La Sagrada Familia pages in my book, and this is going to go very nicely along with them!

Creative Scrappers - Sketch #60 & Wacky Wednesdays!

I thought I would put all my Creative Scrappers work into one post. I have a feeling that there will be many more posts to come in the next few days, so I'll combine when I can!! I got a lot done when I went to Archiver's for a crop yesterday with my dear mother-in-law!

The first page is sketch #60. Now, they've already released #61, so I'd better get myself in gear after vacation!! Anyway, I saw the layout, and I knew just what pictures I wanted to use. This is my nephew Ryan on the left and on the right is his son Owen. So nice to get generational pages like this! I used all Fancy Pants - paper and embellishments.

Wacky Wednesday for July 8th is a great design! You'll notice that I flipped the pages to suit the pictures I wanted to showcase. This challenge was about layers, and layers I've got!! Here I've used sugar-coated Laundry Line paper, a random scalloped sheet for layering, K&I brads and phrases, and Bazzill flowers. Simple layout, yet just what I want to achieve with these beautiful pictures from Birch Lake.

I cannot show you the design for Wacky Wednesday for July 15th. if I did that, I'd unlock the puzzle that Thynner gave us. What fun to do a puzzle for a sketch! Even if I show you my finsihed design you have no idea if I flipped it turned it or added some more elements - or not! ;)

Jerry and I spent several days at Birch Lake last year with my sister Patti's family. We had a wonderful time and we look back at those pictures with great fondness. This layout is just the parents, with patti and Brian being in the rounded frame. I've used Roam paper from K&I, Bazzill flowers, Making Memories brads, Laundry Line journaling cards, and CTMH rub-ons.

Creative Scrappers #59

I wanted a complimentary page for the layout I did the other day. Lo and behold, Creative Scrappers had a great layout for the one picture I wanted to use.

I have used quite a few elements on this page. This is the Key To My Heart paper. The Fancy Cut Botanicals match this paper beautifully, so that is how I created the layered flowers. The tulip corners are the felt Heartfelt Whimsy die-cuts, and the Creme Brulee metal corners are from the Mini medley Collections. I've used three different designer ribbons and borders from Fancy Cut Borders. The alphabet is Typewriter Keys (love this one!). I've put Cirecle Window Charms on the word cruise, and I also put one over me and Jerry in the photo. Lots of little bits and piece, but I sure do like the versatility of all the matching accessories for this paper!

Those Tattered Angels

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist that is! I picked up another color last weekend. I just love this spray! I was inspired to do this layout because one of the designers, Patti, over at Creative Scrappers is having a chllenge to use two Glimmer Mists as a background. Let me tell you a bit about what I did.

I took a piece of textured cardstock and spritzed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist. Then I added Graphite Blue Gkimmer Mist. I'll give you a hint. When you use them, hold the mist about a foot away from your paper. You'll get a better spray that way. Also shake up your bottle really good!

Then I took some white Petaloo paper flowers and sprayed them. The largest and smallest are Graphite Blue and the middle flower is sprayed in Pearl. Another thing, your paper might get "wet." You can easily dry them with your embossing gun. If your paper seems to curl a little, I suggest putting it under something heavy. That's what I've always done and it looks great!

The other items are Paper Loft Back Country, Outdoor Denim cardstock, Bohemian twill, and Outdoor Denim accents. Oh, the big letters are die-cuts from CTMH.

I like looking back on pictures of our Coltie. He was with us for a little more than 13 years before he we had to put him down. Cancer had really ravaged his poor springer body. Sometimes I think he would have hung on a few more years just because he loved us so much, but it's just not fair to see your doggy in so much pain. So I'll start scrapping his days now. Now that we've got this bundle of energy Beagle, Miss Chanel #5, we can move on. Never a replacement for Coltie, but she sure has grown on us! Even if she does always sleep in the middle!

Creative Scrappers Wacky Wednesday

I had fun with this sketch! It is from Creative Scrappers Wacky Wednesday challenge. The recipe was 1 title, 2 photos, 3 embellishments (boy was that tough for me!), and 4 different papers.

I want to keep scrapping in my cruise book, so I grabbed a couple pictures of the ship. I used Key To My Heart paper, Friendship Upper and Lower alphabet, some buttons, and a couple flowers.

I love the colors in this paper!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #58

I thought this was a really fun sketch! Something I'm not used to doing is leaving a lot of space on my pages. Gosh, my books are already so big! But I like challenges because they make me think about different kinds of scrapbooking, and so often the result is something we may never have thought of!
I wanted to pull out some pictures of my Dad for this sketch. He passed away in 1993, so every once in awhile it's really nice to pull out a bundle of pictures that revolve around him that I have never scrapped.
I remember this day. Dad had decided to build a huge bonfire. and it was hot! So funny!! You'll see in the bottom picture Jerry was laying on the ground to toast a hot dog! I used all CTMH products for this layout. The paper is Back Country.

The round letters are It's a Guy Thing, and colored Dimensional Elements are matching to the Back Country paper. I've done a close up for you of the fire. I achieved that look by putting Liquid Glass on the fire. Isn't it great? It gives the fire dimension, and I made it crack a little to give that crackling look to the fire. Enjoy these pictures!!

Yippee! I Won a Prize!

I clicked over to Creative Scrappers today, and I found out that I won the prize drawing for Michelle's color challenge! Yippee!!!!!! The layout I entered can be found here. Michelle had given us a set of challenging colors to work with (at least for me!)- yellow, dark blue, light blue, and red. I am used to scrapping in warm colors. But I was so happy to pull out pictures from 19 years ago on the 4th of July, and finally get them scrapped. What fun, and what a blessing!!

Now I have to tell you, you just must click over Creative Scrappers. Not only do they have wonderful sketches to enjoy, but they have fun challenges. Be sure to hook up to their forum because you'll learn a lot of valuable things! Also, I have to mention Michelle again. Her blog is so much fun! Thanks again, Michelle, for the prize. You made my day!!

Michelle's Color Challenge

Over at Creative Scrappers, one of the designers, Michelle, is having a color challenge. Her son picked out 4 markers in the colors he wanted us to work with. These are pictures from a long time ago that I had not scrapped yet. (See, even an avid scrapper isn't necessarily "caught up.") This is my Shane at just 14 months old in 1990. Isn't he adorable?

I used paper from a few CTMH paper packets. The Sunflower is from Animal Cookies, the Dutch Blue is from Stardust, the Tulip is from Perfect Day, and the Outdoor Denim is cardstock. I take no credit for the idea of mixing! My good friend Karen has been teaching me through her artwork that you can mix it all to gain your look. (Check out her work!)

The ghost letters are from SEI, the ribbon and brads are from CTMH, and the clear buttons are from Buttons Galore & More. I used Liguid Glass to adhere paper to the back of the clear buttons to help them match the layout and give them a more interesting look.

We're liking this layout in our house - even Shane! I hope you pick up a technique or two by looking! As always, click on the layout to make it larger.
