Easter Card

One of my biggest challenges is to make clean and simple cards.  

So every so often I challenge myself to make a card within 20 minutes.  That's awfully hard for me!!  

I really liked the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, so that's what I used as inspiration for my card.

This is Ariana paper and the a beautiful new stamp set called Greatest Love.

Don't these stamps have a wonderful font?

Big Ideas

I've been busy cutting card and club kits, and it's also tax time.  It's been crazy with paper in my office!  So for lunch today, I stopped everything in order to create.  I liked the sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap, so I wanted to take the time to use it.  

My husband loves to fish.  In fact, this is the time of the year that he gets really antsy because spring just isn't coming fast enough.  I took this photo of him at the end of last summer with a couple of great Northern Pike catches.  If you've been reading my blog, you know that he has his own scrapbook down in his man cave, and he truly does love looking through these layouts.  Maybe that's why I find such pleasure in creating them!

Artbooking played a big role on this layout.  The notebook page, paper clips, round arrow, and "big ideas" were all die-cut from that cartridge.  This is paper from Timberline, and I will be using a lot of this for Jerry's book.  Embellishments are from the Timberline Assortment, Wooden Mini Medleys, and Wooden Trinket Shapes.  The alphabets are Tiny Type Epoxy and Keyboard Kraft.

Pennant Frame Class

We have this COOL new My Creations product, and I think you are going to like it!   It's a shadow-box type frame called the Pennant Frame, and I am having a class in March.

These frames measure 9" x 7", and the inset is 6" x 6".   I've created this class so that you can complete them vertically as shown or you can flip them horizontally.  Whichever is to your liking will work with this pattern!  I've used the more masculine paper ProPlayer for one, and the more feminine Ivy Lane for the other.  Overlays from Artbooking complement both frames along with die-cuts and banners.

If you would like to make one frame, it is $14, and you can choose whichever you'd like.  Or you can make both frames for $25!  If you are long distance the cost for shipping is $6 whether you order one or two.   Kits come pre-cut with full directions.

Do Nothing

Yesterday I created a feminine card for you, and today I have used the same pattern to create a masculine card.  We need cards for the guys in our life!

I embossed Timberline paper with the Stripe Embossing folder.  Isn't the woodgrain paper awesome?! I love this stamp, too, and it's already so popular with my customers.  It's called Catch You Later:

A little burlap, a couple of Timberline pins, and some ribbon from my stash finished off this card.

Love is Patient

I am sharing another embossed card today using the Damask folder.

I used blush cardstock, and after I embossed it, I brushed it with Create-A-Shade pearl paint.  What an elegant look!  There's not much more to the card, but I am going to tell you a funny story about the ribbon.  I was picking up light bulbs at Menard's right before Christmas.  Do you have a Menard's?  It's like Home Depot or Lowe's.  Anyway, they had these soft fleece bathrobes for $6.88.  But what really me buy one was for the pretty pink ribbon that was tied around it.  LOL!  Only a crafter could think in such a way!  So here it is...and so much prettier than when it was in Menard's around a bathrobe!

Embossed Flowers

I saw the sketch at Cardabilities, and I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.  

I love dry embossing on white daisy paper, so I wanted to create some vintage looking flowers for this card.  I did this by die-cutting the flowers with my Artbooking cartridge, and then embossing them with my quatrefoil folder before rolling them up with my quilling tool.  When doing this, you end up with quite a pretty flower!

There is a lot of discontinued product on this card (Florentine paper, Mocha Gems, Garden Wooden Shapes, Frosted Assortment).  I really wanted to show the technique and yet another way to use your embossing folders!

Simply Inspired Blog Hop

Welcome to the Simply Inspired Close To My Heart Blog Hop!

I've used three folders on this page.  I used the stripe on the black cardstock, the chevron on my black banner, and the dot on the white daisy cardstock.  The folders are 5" x 7", and they have an open slit on the fold.  I couldn't wait to use this slit to create a fully embossed 12" strip of paper, and it's really simple!  Insert as much of your 12" strip into the folder as you can.  Emboss and then reposition your paper by pulling it through the slit on the folder.  Because the embossing is so deeply imprinted, it's super easy to line up what's already been embossed so that you can create a flawless 12" length!

Close To My Heart's Artistic Adventure!

You've heard me talk about Close To My Heart's Convention in the past.  I always have so much fun at Convention, and I learn so much to share with you.  Oh, the class ideas are just so wonderful!  

This year Convention is just so special for so many reasons!  Let me tell you why...

• There are seven of my Rose Blossom team members coming with me!  Kristine, Lynn, Kim S, Kim R, Amy, Mary, and Barb will be attending this Artistic Adventure.  None of them have ever been before, and I am over-the-top-thrilled-and-filled-with-joy that they will be coming!  I always send my team members mid-year Convention gifties, and this is what I sent this year (I'll come back in another post and tell you how I made them):

• Another SUPER EXCITING thing is that 2014 is Close To My Heart's 30th Anniversary!  I can only imagine the celebrations that we will have at Convention this year!

• On a personal level, I was asked to be a Creative Presenter at Convention.  As I type this, I am still in a bit of shock!  I was extremely humbled to be asked to help in this way.  As you know from reading my blog, this company means a great deal to me.  I am excited to be able to give back by sharing what I love!   I will be sharing the task with three very talented women - Pamela O'Connor, Lisa Stenz, and Beckie Lehman.

So if you are a Close To My Heart consultant and haven't signed up for Convention, I want to encourage you to take the plunge and go to Disneyland!  Along with the four Creative Presentations, there are 12 absolutely incredible Extravaganza teachers - Christine Adams, Sara Batkin, Kelly English-Triggs, Tresa Black, Ginni Candelaria, Melissa Laverty, Tamra Pope, Sherri Rottler, Kathy Skipper, Michelle Snyder, Jame Turner, and Bren Yule.

March Uniquely Folded Kit - Card #2

Today brings the second card in my Uniquely Folded Card Kit for March.  It's the same Ivy Lane paper, but I've chosen to bring out the Ivy Lane Green for this card.

We all have someone in our life that we need to tell "you're amazing," so it was time to make a simply stated card like this!  I love that easel card can sit on a shelf easily reminding people how much we care about them!
